About
Who am I ?
I introduce myself, my name is Marc Lajeunesse, born in a small village in the Laurentians. My parents moved to Montreal when I was six years old. Curious by nature, I have always been fascinated by the world of photography. I bought my first camera at the age of 16 with the money I made distributing the newspaper … a Minolta XD-11 with a 50 mm f / 1.4 lens and a Vivitar 283 flash. I had this camera with me almost 24/24, 7 days a week, and I photographed really everything that moves. The years pass by, the material improved and I build a small studio in my parent’s basement where I had a lot of fun making montages and develop black and white photos.
Later, I went to exile for a job where I lived 9 years in Sept-Iles. That’s when I bought my first digital camera, a Canon Rebel. I returned to Montreal in the early 2000s and in 2004 after a few sabbatical years away from photography I started to find again this taste and interest. So I was part of several groups where I had the privilege of exchanging with very good photographers. It was through those meetings that I learned how to develop my techniques and learning the art of Portrait.
In 2011, because of my experience with the world of modeling, I decided to organize a contest that I called Next Model Quebec. More than 200 participants from all regions have applied. A selection committee chose 24 semi-finalists who I had the privilege of photographing. The rest of the contest was based on the public vote and on November 5, 2011 in the final among the 10 finalists we declared the winner who won several awards including a modeling contract with a known Montreal agency.
My approach to photography has always been to put people at ease and take the time necessary to get the best results and especially that the person is the most natural possible. On this, I often say that Photoshop can fix small imperfections but it can only create emotions!
My goal in this area is always to improve myself, to learn every day and to have the privilege of meeting interesting people.
You are welcome in my world !
